You press "Auto Home" and the print head drives into the side of the frame, grinding and clicking, instead of stopping at the corner. Or it stops short and the first layer lands in the wrong place. On an Ender-3, both faults usually lead back to the same small part, a worn or damaged endstop switch.
This genuine Creality endstop switch, part number 4004180004, is the factory limit switch used on the X, Y and Z axes of the Ender-3, Ender-3 Pro, Ender-3 V2, Ender-5 and CR-10 families. It tells the mainboard exactly where each axis starts, every time the printer homes.
A few minutes with a screwdriver, and your printer homes accurately again.
Genuine Creality Part 4004180004 | Mechanical Micro Switch | Fits X, Y and Z Axes | 3-Pin Connector (S, G, V) | 15 mm Mounting Hole Spacing | 2 x M3x6 Screws Included | Fits Ender-3, Ender-5 and CR-10 Series
Who the Creality Ender-3 endstop switch is built for
Hobbyist Makers keeping an Ender-3 running
Your Ender-3 has years of prints behind it, and the endstop lever is bent, the switch no longer clicks or the plastic housing cracked when the bed hit it. A genuine replacement restores reliable homing with the same fit as the factory part. Swap the X switch on a Saturday morning and you can be printing a calibration cube by lunchtime, with the nozzle starting exactly where the slicer expects.
Small print farm operators with older Creality machines
Ender-3 and Ender-5 printers are the workhorses of many print farms, and endstops are a common wear item after thousands of homing cycles. One switch fits the X, Y and Z positions on most Creality bed-slinger and Cartesian models, so a small stock of spares covers your whole fleet. A failed switch then costs you 10 minutes of repair time instead of a printer standing idle.
Schools and makerspaces
Classroom printers get knocked, carried and loaded by many hands, and endstop levers and housings take the hits. Because a technician or senior learner can fit this switch with two screws and one plug, repairs stay in-house. It is also a practical teaching example of how a printer uses a simple limit switch to find its zero position.
What sets this Creality Ender-3 endstop switch apart
Accurate homing that every print relies on
Every print starts with homing. The printer drives each axis toward its endstop until the switch clicks, and the firmware sets that point as zero. On Ender-3 series machines running Marlin firmware, everything after that, from the first layer to the last, is measured from those zero points. A sticky or intermittent switch shifts that reference, causing first layers that start off the bed, layer shifts after a re-home, or axes that crash into the frame.
A proven mechanical micro switch
The switch is a miniature snap-action switch mounted on a small PCB with a lever arm. When the carriage or bed presses the lever, the contacts snap closed and send a clean signal to the mainboard. Mechanical endstops are simple, unaffected by dust, light or temperature, and they trigger at a consistent point, which is why Creality has used this design across most of its FDM range for years.
One switch for X, Y and Z positions
Creality uses the same switch across all three axes on the Ender-3, Ender-3 Pro and Ender-3 V2, and on many Ender-5 and CR-10 models. That means one part number replaces whichever switch failed, whether it sits on the X gantry, under the Y bed carriage or at the base of the Z upright. If you own several Creality printers, a single spare covers them all.
A direct fit with the factory plug
This is the genuine Creality part, so the PCB outline, 15 mm mounting hole spacing and 3-pin S, G, V connector match the original. You remove two screws, unplug the old switch, plug in the new one and refit it using the two M3x6 screws supplied. There is no soldering and no firmware change, and the existing printer cable plugs straight in.

Frequently asked questions about the Creality Ender-3 endstop switch
Do I need a Z endstop if I fit a CR Touch or BLTouch?
No, a probe such as the Creality CR-Touch Auto Levelling Probe or Genuine BL Touch Bed Levelling Sensor can replace the Z endstop, depending on your firmware and wiring. You still need working X and Y endstops, so this switch stays relevant on probe-equipped printers.
How do I know the endstop has failed?
The clearest sign is the axis grinding against the frame during homing instead of stopping. Check whether the lever clicks when pressed, then send M119 from a terminal such as OctoPrint or Pronterface while pressing the switch by hand. If the status does not change from "open" to "triggered", replace the switch or check its cable.
How long does it take to replace?
About 10 minutes for most axes, using a small hex key or screwdriver. Switch the printer off, unplug the cable, remove the two screws, fit the new switch in the same orientation and reconnect. Then run Auto Home and confirm each axis stops cleanly.
Will it fit my Ender-3 V3 SE, KE or K1?
No, these newer printers use different homing hardware, such as sensorless homing or integrated switches, so this part is not a replacement for them. It suits the original Ender-3, Pro, V2, Ender-5 and CR-10 families.
Do you stock it locally in South Africa?
Yes, we hold genuine Creality endstops in stock, ship nationwide by courier and handle any warranty claim locally. Many customers order two or three at a time to keep spares for every axis.
