A P1S that drops off Wi-Fi, loses its camera feed, or stops responding on the touchscreen is not necessarily a motion or heating problem. On the P1 series, connectivity and processing live on a separate board to the one driving the motors, so a fault in one rarely affects the other, and knowing which board is actually at fault saves you ordering the wrong part.

This is the genuine Bambu Lab AP Board for the P1S, the circuit board responsible for Wi-Fi, the camera, the touchscreen and onboard processing, built to the same specification as the board your printer shipped with.

Genuine Bambu Lab part | Wi-Fi, camera and screen connectivity | P1S exclusive, not shared with P1P | Direct OEM fit | Requires SN activation after installation | Works alongside a separate MC board | Nationwide delivery across South Africa

Who this P1S AP Board is built for

Hobbyist Maker

When your P1S loses its Wi-Fi connection permanently, the camera feed stops working, or the touchscreen becomes unresponsive while the printer still homes and heats normally, the AP board is the most likely cause. Replacing it yourself, following Bambu Lab's official guide, is more direct than sending the whole printer in for repair.

Small print farm operator

A P1S that cannot be monitored remotely or queued through Bambu Studio is only half useful in a farm setting, even if it still prints locally. Keeping a spare AP board on hand means connectivity gets restored the same day rather than leaving a printer running blind while a repair ticket is processed.

Electronics repair technician

Separating a connectivity fault from a motion or heating fault before ordering parts saves a customer paying for the wrong board twice. Since the P1 series splits these functions across the AP board and a separate MC board, correctly diagnosing which one has failed is the first real step in any P1S repair.

What sets this P1S AP Board apart

A dedicated connectivity and processing board

Unlike Bambu Lab's A1 Mini, which combines motion control and connectivity on one integrated board, the P1 series splits these roles. The AP board handles Wi-Fi, the onboard camera, the touchscreen interface and general processing, while a separate MC board drives the stepper motors and heating. A fault in one typically leaves the other working normally.

P1S specific, not interchangeable with P1P

The AP boards for the P1S and P1P look identical and install the same way, but they are not interchangeable. Bambu Lab builds a separate AP board for each model, and fitting the wrong one will not work correctly even though the connectors line up. This listing is specifically for the P1S.

Direct OEM fit

The board mounts with four screws using an H2.0 hex key and connects through the original harness, including the camera FPC connector, the LED fill light cable, the Wi-Fi antenna cable, the screen cable and the MC-AP cable that links it to the motion controller. A strip of sealing foam over the board is part of the original assembly and should be reapplied during installation.

Reactivation is part of the process, not an afterthought

Every AP board carries its own serial number, which needs to be bound to your printer's original serial number before the printer can rejoin your account. After fitting the new board, you skip the initial binding step on first power-on, then submit both serial numbers to Bambu Lab support to complete the activation. Replacing the board does not remove any existing region lock on the printer.

We stock the P1S AP board shown above. The P1P AP board and the shared P1 series MC board are included for reference only, since we do not currently hold stock of them. If you are not sure whether your fault sits with the AP board or the MC board, our support team can help you work through the symptoms before you order.

Firmware, activation and software

Proprietary firmware, not a Klipper board

This AP board runs Bambu Lab's own firmware and is not designed to be reflashed with third-party firmware such as Klipper. That closed approach is what allows the P1S to offer integrated Wi-Fi, camera monitoring and cloud print queuing without separate add-on modules.

Pairing with Bambu Studio and the Handy app

Once the serial number binding is complete, your printer reconnects to Bambu Studio and the Handy app exactly as it did before the fault. Firmware updates for the AP board are delivered through the same channels as any routine update, with no separate flashing tool required.

Frequently asked questions

Will this board also work in a P1P?

No. The P1P and P1S use visually identical AP boards, but they are built for their respective models and are not interchangeable. This listing is specifically for the P1S.

My printer still homes and heats correctly, but Wi-Fi and the camera do not work. Is this the right part?

Likely yes. Since motion and heating run through a separate MC board on the P1 series, a printer that still moves and heats normally while losing Wi-Fi, camera or screen function points toward the AP board rather than the MC board.

How difficult is it to fit this board myself?

It is a moderate repair. You will remove the screen and front cover, disconnect several labelled connectors including the camera FPC and Wi-Fi antenna cable using tweezers, then reconnect them to the new board in the same order. Following Bambu Lab's official replacement guide, most people complete it in 20 to 30 minutes, excluding the wait for activation.

Do I need to do anything before turning the printer on for the first time after fitting it?

Yes. Skip the machine binding step on first power-on after installing the new board. Binding only happens correctly once Bambu Lab support has reassigned your printer's original serial number to the new board.

Is there local warranty support in South Africa if the board is faulty out of the box?

Yes. Manufacturing defects are handled through 3D Printing Store's local support team rather than an overseas returns process.

What if I am not sure whether my P1S needs an AP board or an MC board?

Start by listing every symptom together. Wi-Fi, camera and screen faults with normal homing and heating point to the AP board. Homing errors, motor noise, or heating faults with Wi-Fi and the camera still working point to the MC board. If the printer shows a mix of both, or will not power on at all, that usually points further upstream to the power supply rather than either control board, and is worth confirming with our support team before ordering.
