This tap can be used to tap thread into plastic, aluminium, brass and mild steel. A tap handle or a drill can be used tap the hole.
How do you calculate hole size before tapping?
As a rule of thumb, for Metric threads, the tapping drill can be calculated by subtracting the pitch from the diameter of the thread. Example: For M6 x 1.0 thread the hole size is 6mm - 1.0mm = 5.0mm. So the hole size before tapping should be 5mm. It is also recommended that you use a cutting fluid like Tapmatic during tapping.
