Great quality!!

It prints really well. I'd say it's the same as other LW-PLA but with a Massive price advantage. Generally you'll be printing at 60% flow. So think of this slightly more expensive roll as equivalent to 1.4kg of normal PLA for the volume of parts you'll print.

From what I understand it's made local too! Go SA!

Light weight PLA filament for open source 3D Printers to print light weight objects. This filament is made with a special foaming agent which expands when it is printed. The foaming agent is temperature sensitive, and we have found that the most foaming happens at a printing temperature of 230 Degree C.

Calibration is required to print this filament successfully. To calibrate this filament, determine the temperature on your printer on your printer which expands the filament the most. This is done by printing a single wall block at different temperatures and measure the wall thickness. We have found this temperature to be 230 Degree C. At this printing temperature you will find that the strand thickness of the print is around 0.6mm when printing a 0.4mm strand according to your slicer settings. Now you need to reduce your extrusion multiplier to get the wall thickness back to the setting in your slicer (0.4mm in this case). When you are done with this, you are ready to go!

The filament comes on a plastic spool and is sealed in a plastic bag with desiccant and packaged in a box (sometimes we remove the filament from the box to fit everything into your parcel). Each spool is marked with the type of filament, the recommended printing temperature and the manufacturing batch number. We have a lot of confidence in the filament we supply, because we use it ourselves.

PLA (Polylactic acid) is very common in the 3D Printers industry. This is mostly due to its low thermal expansion coefficient. This means less warping and curling during printing. PLA is not as tough as other plastics, but delivers prints with very high dimentional accuracy, ideal for prototyping and scale models. It is available in a range of colors and is easy to print with.
