Your planter, pen holder or small sculpture prints perfectly, but in one flat colour it looks like every other 3D print on the shelf. Painting takes longer than the print itself, and a multi-material unit is a big step for a few decorative pieces. You want colour that comes straight off the build plate.
Creality Hyper Rainbow PLA in Early Spring Lake, Short Gradient, blends through soft blue, green and pink tones as it prints. Because the colour changes over a short length of filament, small and medium models show the shift, not just large vases.
Gradient colour on everyday prints, from a single 1kg spool at up to 300 mm/s.

Who Creality Hyper Rainbow PLA Early Spring Lake is built for
Makers printing home décor and gifts
Planters, lamp shades, trinket dishes and desk organisers are the prints people keep in view, so colour matters. Early Spring Lake gives you a soft multi-tone finish without painting or filament swaps. Print a 120 mm hexagonal succulent planter in spiral vase mode in under two hours and it comes off the plate shading from blue into green, ready to wrap as a gift.
Craft market and online sellers
Small items such as keyrings, earrings, phone stands and bookmarks sell faster when every piece looks a little different. With a short gradient, parts printed together on one plate land on different points of the colour cycle, so a batch of 30 earrings gives you 30 unique pieces. Consistent ±0.03 mm diameter keeps long batch runs on track.
Teachers and school makerspaces
Classroom prints are usually small, which is exactly where long-gradient rainbow filament fails to show any colour change. The short gradient means a learner's name tag, chess piece or geometric model still shows a visible shift. It prints like standard PLA at 190 to 230°C, so it runs on the Creality Ender-3 V3 SE 3D Printer and similar classroom machines with no extra setup.
What sets this Creality Hyper Rainbow PLA apart
Colour that shows up on small and medium prints
The Short Gradient winding changes colour over a short length of filament, which Creality's Short Gradient range places at roughly 6 to 8 m per transition. At 1.75mm and 1.25 g/cm³, one metre of filament weighs about 3 g, so each transition covers roughly 18 to 24 g of printed plastic. A 40 g planter will typically pass through two shifts, and a 1kg spool of about 330 m holds several dozen transitions. That is why this version suits everyday objects, not only tall vases.
High-speed PLA that keeps the finish clean
Fast printers expose weak filament. Standard PLA that cannot melt quickly enough leaves dull, streaky walls that hide a gradient. Creality's Hyper series uses a higher-flow polylactic acid formula, and Hyper Rainbow PLA is rated for up to 300 mm/s. On a K1 or K2 series CoreXY printer you can run decorative prints at speed and still get even layer lines that let the colour blend read smoothly across the surface.
Tight tolerance for reliable overnight prints
Creality specifies a 1.75mm diameter with a ±0.03 mm tolerance. In fused filament fabrication, the printer assumes every millimetre of filament carries the same volume of plastic, so tighter tolerance means more consistent extrusion, fewer under-extruded patches and less chance of a clog. That matters when you leave a full plate of sale stock printing overnight or a school printer runs while the class is in another lesson.
No special settings in your slicer
The colour change lives in the filament, so you slice it exactly like regular PLA. Start with the Creality Hyper PLA profile in Creality Print, or a generic PLA profile in OrcaSlicer, Cura or PrusaSlicer, at 210°C. For the strongest visual effect, use spiral vase mode on hollow décor items, and arrange several copies of small parts on one plate so the gradient spreads across the batch.
Packed dry on a cardboard spool
Each 1kg spool arrives vacuum sealed on a recyclable cardboard spool, with a gross weight of about 1.29 kg. PLA is hygroscopic, so return it to a sealed bag with desiccant after use, especially in humid coastal areas. If you load it into a multi-colour feeder, check the cardboard edges for fraying, as many users fit a printed spool adapter ring to stop fibres entering the feed path.

Frequently asked questions about Creality Hyper Rainbow PLA Early Spring Lake
How is Early Spring Lake different from Wild Blossom?
The main difference is the colour palette, as both are Hyper Rainbow PLA with the same print settings and speed rating. Choose by the look you want for the finished piece. For a PLA+ rainbow on a plastic spool, compare the Creality Ender PLA+ Filament, 1Kg, 1.75mm, Rainbow.
Can I combine it with solid colours on a multi-colour printer?
Yes, it loads like any PLA, so you can pair it with a solid colour such as Creality Hyper PLA Filament with RFID, 1kg, 1.75mm, White for bases or lettering. The rainbow spool has no RFID tag, so set its material type and colour manually in your printer or slicer.
Why did my print come out mostly one colour?
The part was likely too small to reach the next colour transition. Each shift takes roughly 18 to 24 g of filament, so prints under about 20 g can stay in one tone. Print several items on one plate, or scale the model up, to capture more of the gradient.
Does rainbow PLA need any special maintenance?
No, it is unfilled PLA, so it does not wear a brass nozzle any faster than standard PLA. Keep the spool dry, as moisture causes stringing and a rough surface. If that appears, dry the spool at around 50°C for four to six hours before adjusting your slicer settings.
Is PLA décor safe in South African summer heat?
Yes, for indoor use. PLA softens at around 55 to 60°C, so avoid leaving prints in a closed car or on a hot windowsill, and choose PETG for outdoor planters. We ship nationwide, and our local support team can help you choose the right material.
