You want a lampshade that glows evenly, an LED cover that lets light through, or a see-through window on an enclosure so you can check what is inside. PLA turns cloudy and brittle, and resin is overkill for a functional part. You need a filament that prints clear enough to pass light, and tough enough to be handled.

Creality Hyper PETG Transparent combines PETG's toughness and weather resistance with a high-transparency formulation, and prints at up to 300 mm/s when speed matters more than clarity.

Light-passing, durable parts, printed fast or tuned for maximum clarity.

Who Creality Hyper PETG transparent filament is built for

Lighting and décor makers

Lampshades, light diffusers and night-light covers need a material that spreads light evenly and copes with the warmth of LEDs. Transparent PETG does both and tolerates more heat than PLA. Print a spiral-vase lampshade on a Creality K1C 2025 3D printer in a single evening, then fit an LED bulb for a soft, even glow.

Product designers and engineers

Clear covers, inspection windows, light pipes and indicator lenses let users see inside a product or a status LED. Hyper PETG gives you transparency with the toughness to survive assembly and knocks. Print a clear lid for an electronics enclosure, tuned for clarity, so you can inspect the board without opening it.

Cosplay and prop builders

Glowing visors, crystal effects, energy cores and armour lights all need a clear, impact-resistant material. PETG flexes rather than shattering if a prop gets bumped at a convention. On a Creality Ender-3 V3 KE 3D Printer, print a set of clear gem inserts for a costume and light them from behind with LED strips.

What sets Creality Hyper PETG transparent filament apart

High transparency from a tough material

Creality lists high transparency as a key property of this grade. Unlike clear PLA, which is brittle and softens in warm rooms, PETG combines that clarity with impact toughness and better heat tolerance. Thin walls and single-wall prints pass light well, which is what makes PETG the standard choice for lampshades, covers and lenses. Be realistic about the result: a 3D printed part is translucent rather than glass-clear, because every boundary between extrusion lines causes light scattering.

Fast functional prints, or slow ones for clarity

Hyper PETG is formulated for high flow, so it prints at up to 300 mm/s for parts where light just needs to pass through, such as diffusers and indicator covers. When you want the clearest possible result, slow down. Guides from transparent filament specialists recommend printing at roughly 20 to 40 mm/s, at the hotter end of the temperature range, with the part cooling fan off and slightly increased flow, so each line fuses fully with its neighbours.

Tough and weather resistant

Clear parts are often exposed: outdoor light covers, garden features and enclosure windows. Creality rates Hyper PETG as waterproof and weather resistant, with strong chemical resistance and high impact toughness. It flexes before it cracks, which makes it a safer choice than clear PLA for anything handled, mounted or exposed to sun. Printed in fused filament fabrication at its recommended 220 to 260°C, it bonds well between layers for durable thin walls.

Less stringing, cleaner clear parts

On transparent parts, strings, blobs and bubbles are all visible. Creality optimised Hyper PETG's flow to reduce stringing and nozzle build-up. The bigger factor is moisture: damp PETG traps tiny bubbles that turn clear parts cloudy, so dry the spool before clarity-critical prints. Use a smooth build plate rather than a textured one, as a textured surface imprints its pattern into the first layer and scatters light. For long prints in humid weather, feed the filament from a dry box so it does not absorb moisture mid-job and cloud the upper layers.

Frequently asked questions about Creality Hyper PETG transparent filament

Will my prints come out completely clear?

No, expect translucent rather than glass-clear results. Each boundary between printed lines scatters light. Thin, single-wall parts, slow speeds, a hot nozzle, the fan off and a smooth build plate give the clearest results. Wet sanding up to 2000 grit and a clear gloss coat improve clarity further.

How does it compare with standard transparent PETG?

Hyper PETG is the better option for fast printers and quick functional parts. For slow, clarity-focused printing on bed-slinger machines, Creality PETG Filament, 1kg, 1.75mm, Transparent or CRON PETG Filament, 1kg, 1.75mm, Transparent are good-value alternatives.

Is it suitable for LED lampshades?

Yes, PETG suits LED lampshades and diffusers well. It passes and spreads light, and it tolerates more warmth than PLA. Use LED bulbs only, as they run far cooler than incandescent or halogen bulbs, and keep a sensible gap between the bulb and the printed shade.

How should I store and dry it?

Keep it sealed with desiccant between prints. Moisture matters more for transparent filament than any other colour, because absorbed water forms bubbles that make parts cloudy. Before clarity-critical prints, dry the spool at around 55 to 65°C for four to six hours.

Does it handle South African conditions?

Yes, PETG holds its shape in summer heat far better than PLA, so clear outdoor covers and garden features stay stable. In humid coastal areas, keep spools sealed. We ship nationwide by courier, and our local support team can help you tune settings for clarity.
