Buying a large-format printer and then discovering you need a separate material system before you can print anything but single-colour PLA is a common, expensive surprise. The Bambu Lab H2S Combo with AMS 2 Pro removes that step. It pairs the largest build chamber Bambu Lab has shipped, 340 x 320 x 340 mm, with a 4-spool AMS 2 Pro already wired in, so RFID filament recognition, drying, and multi-colour printing work from the first job.

For engineers running multi-material prototypes, print farms avoiding a separate AMS purchase, and large-format makers wanting colour detail alongside big parts, this combo gets both at once.

340 x 320 x 340 mm build volume | AMS 2 Pro included, 4 spools | RFID auto filament recognition | 65°C filament drying | 1000 mm/s toolhead speed | 350°C hotend | 23 sensors and 3 cameras

Who the Bambu Lab H2S Combo with AMS 2 Pro is built for

Prototyping and mechanical engineers

Functional prototypes often need a structural material and a dissolvable or contrasting support material in the same job. With the AMS 2 Pro fitted, you load PC on one spool and a support filament on another without separate hardware. The 350°C hotend and 65°C heated chamber cover PC, PA, and PPA, so a multi-material bracket comes off dimensionally sound rather than warped at the corners.

Small print farm operators

Buying a printer and an AMS as two separate line items adds cost and setup time across a fleet. This combo removes that step, and the AMS 2 Pro's RFID recognition sets drying and print parameters automatically, so operators are not reconfiguring settings between jobs. At 1000 mm/s toolhead speed, cycle time drops by up to 30% against the X1 Carbon, and AI detection flags problems before they waste a shift.

Multi-colour and large-format creators

Large props and cosplay pieces need both scale and colour detail, a helmet shell in one colour with trim in another, for example. The 340 x 320 mm plate, the largest Bambu Lab has built, handles the scale, while the included AMS 2 Pro handles up to 4 colours per print, so a piece goes from bare filament to a finished, multi-colour part in one setup.

What sets the Bambu Lab H2S Combo with AMS 2 Pro apart

Print speeds that change how you plan your week

The H2S reaches 1000 mm/s toolhead speed and 20,000 mm/s² acceleration, backed by a PMSM DynaSense servo extruder delivering up to 10 kg of extrusion force, 67% more than a standard stepper-driven extruder. Together, this cuts print time by up to 30% against the X1 Carbon, so an overnight job finishes and cools before your first coffee.

The largest build plate Bambu Lab has shipped

At 340 x 320 x 340 mm, the H2S offers a print volume roughly 120% larger than the X1 Carbon, while keeping the tool head light thanks to the CoreXY motion system. Two stationary motors drive the X and Y belts, so moving mass stays low even as the frame has grown, which is how it manages high speed without sacrificing accuracy.

An AMS 2 Pro that reads filament for you

The included AMS 2 Pro holds 4 spools and reads RFID tags to set drying temperature and print parameters automatically, no manual profile hunting. Its drying system reaches 65°C with auto-rotation and electromagnetic air venting, keeping humidity out of hygroscopic filaments like PA and PETG. A brushless servo motor feeds filament 60% faster than the previous generation, and the expansion port lets you add up to 3 more AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT units later, for up to 24 colours total.

Precision that holds on hour 40 of a print, with eyes that never blink

The Vision Encoder compensates for mechanical drift, holding motion accuracy under 50 micrometres from first layer to last. A toolhead camera and optional BirdsEye camera add Live Spatial Alignment accurate to 0.3 mm, useful for multi-part or multi-colour assemblies. Meanwhile, 23 sensors and 3 cameras run AI monitoring that catches clumping, spaghetti, and purge chute jams as they start, and Active Motor Noise Canceling keeps operating noise below 50 dB.

Laser-ready engineering, not a bolt-on

The H2S ships as a Standard Version or a Laser Version. The Laser Version includes the protective panel from the factory, while the Standard can add a 10 W laser and cutting module later via an upgrade kit with a green polycarbonate front door and top cover. Door-opening detection plus an emergency stop button for laser work means safety is designed in, not added after the fact.

Materials and software

Filaments this printer handles

  • PLA: around 190-220°C. Reliable first try, best for quick prototypes and low-load parts.
  • PETG: around 230-250°C. AMS 2 Pro drying keeps it free of the moisture that causes stringing.
  • ABS and ASA: around 250-270°C, heated chamber on throughout the print to stop corner lift.
  • PC (polycarbonate): needs the full 350°C hotend and 65°C chamber, plus thorough drying beforehand.
  • PA (nylon) and PPA: highly hygroscopic. RFID-tagged spools trigger the AMS 2 Pro's drying cycle automatically.
  • TPU: the direct-drive servo extruder reduces stringing, but drop speed well below the printer's maximum.
  • Carbon and glass-fibre composites: abrasive. The H2S ships with a hardened steel nozzle as standard for heavy composite use.

Slicers and software

Bambu Studio is the native slicer and the only way to reach the H2S's full feature set, including AMS routing, the Vision Encoder, and AI monitoring. OrcaSlicer, its open-source fork, carries most of the same printer profiles. Cura and PrusaSlicer can generate compatible G-code through a custom FDM profile, but without Bambu's AMS integration or in-printer calibration.

Ordering, shipping and support

The Bambu Lab H2S Combo ships nationwide by courier from 3D Printing Store's branches in Centurion and Boksburg, with collection available from either. It is covered by Bambu Lab's manufacturer's warranty, handled locally through our service team rather than routed overseas, covering both the printer and the AMS 2 Pro. If you already own an AMS, the standalone H2S is also available, along with compatible filaments.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Combo with AMS 2 Pro better value than buying the H2S and AMS 2 Pro separately?

Yes, in most cases. Bundling the AMS 2 Pro with the printer works out cheaper than buying the two separately, and it arrives pre-configured with no manual pairing step. Buy the standalone H2S only if you already own a compatible AMS unit.

Can this printer and AMS combo print TPU, ABS, and carbon-fibre filaments?

Yes. The 350°C hotend and 65°C heated chamber cover ABS, ASA, PC, PA, and PPA, and the hardened steel nozzle handles abrasive carbon and glass-fibre composites. TPU prints reliably too, provided you reduce speed from the machine's maximum.

How long does it take to set up the H2S Combo out of the box?

Around 30 to 40 minutes, slightly longer than the standalone printer because the AMS 2 Pro needs positioning and its PTFE tubing connected. The printer arrives factory levelled, and Bambu Handy walks you through Wi-Fi setup and first-time calibration.

How often does the AMS 2 Pro need cleaning or desiccant attention?

There is no fixed schedule. Check the desiccant indicator occasionally and recharge it when it changes colour, and wipe down the feed rollers if you notice slipping. RFID-tagged Bambu spools handle drying automatically, so day-to-day upkeep is minimal.

Does this combo come with a South African plug and local warranty support?

Both units auto-switch across AC 100 to 240V, so the combo runs on South Africa's 220 to 240V supply without a converter. Warranty claims for both are handled locally from Centurion and Boksburg, so you are not dealing with international shipping for a repair.
